Description
A liquid level switch alternator, 2 pole, NEMA 1, 600 V. In a duplex pump station the alternator swaps which pump starts first on each cycle, so the two share the running hours evenly instead of one doing all the work and wearing out while the standby seizes from disuse. It also brings the second pump in when inflow exceeds what one can handle. NEMA 1 is an indoor enclosure rating.
