Description

A Hoffman #79 air vent with a 3/4" connection, for a steam system. A steam system will not heat until the air is out of it: steam cannot enter a pipe or radiator that is still full of air, and trapped air is the usual reason part of a system stays cold. The vent lets that air out as steam advances and closes when the steam reaches it, so the steam is kept in the system rather than escaping.
