A 3" flexible coupling. On repair work it is often the only practical joint: an existing cast iron or clay line is cut, a new section goes in, and the coupling absorbs both the difference in outside diameter and the fact that the two ends are rarely perfectly aligned. Tighten the clamps evenly rather than one at a time.
