Description

A 1" wide roll of open-mesh plumber's abrasive cloth, for cleaning copper before soldering. Solder will not take on oxidised copper, so the tube has to be brought back to bright metal first. The cloth is the right form for the outside of a pipe — it wraps right round the circumference and is pulled back and forth, and it tears off to length so no more is used than the joint needs. The open mesh is the point: it clears itself instead of clogging with the copper it takes off, so a strip lasts far longer than solid-backed abrasive paper.
