A 4" mechanical joint restraint. It grips the pipe at a mechanical joint so the joint holds itself against thrust, removing the need for a poured concrete block behind every bend and cap. That matters where there is no room to pour, where the soil will not bear, or where the main has to be charged immediately rather than waiting for concrete to cure.
