3" grooved-end steel pipe in black (plain) steel, 10 ft 6 in length. Schedule 10 wall — the lighter sprinkler-main grade, roll-grooved so the groove is formed by displacing the wall rather than cutting into it. Joined with grooved couplings, which make up far faster than welded or threaded joints and can be taken apart for service.
