2-1/2" sweat flange. Soldered flange connection for joining copper tube to flanged equipment that has to be removable. It is joined by soldering: clean the tube end and the fitting cup, apply flux, heat the fitting and draw lead-free solder into the joint, where capillary action carries it around.
