Description

A 2" dielectric union. Where copper meets steel with water in between, the two metals form a galvanic cell and the steel corrodes - which is why a plain connection between them fails from the inside, often within a few years. A dielectric union puts an insulating gasket and sleeve between the halves so the circuit is broken. Standard practice at water heater connections.
