Description

A 1-1/2" air admittance valve. It lets air into the drainage system to break the vacuum a discharge creates, without letting sewer gas out - which is how a fixture can be vented where running a vent pipe to atmosphere is impractical, such as an island sink or a converted loft. It must remain accessible and in a ventilated space, and local codes vary on where one is permitted in place of a conventional vent.
