A 1" ductile iron plug. It closes off an unused outlet or a branch left for future connection, and it also serves as a test plug when a section has to be pressurised on its own. Worth fitting rather than leaving an opening capped temporarily - a plug is a permanent, rated closure and a temporary cap is a leak waiting for the wrong moment.
