Description
A 1/8" x 4" black malleable iron nipple — a short threaded pipe section for joining two fittings. Black malleable iron nipple conforming to ASTM A733, made from ASTM A53 welded steel pipe. Import. Black iron is the standard for natural gas and propane lines and for low-pressure steam and compressed-air piping; it is not used for potable water, where bare steel would rust.
